Prospective Comparison of Intraarticular Morphine and Bupivacaine for Postoperative Pain Management in Knee Arthroscopy
82 patients who underwent partial meniscectomy or abrasion chondroplasty were randomized to compare the side effect profiles of bupivacaine and morphine. Patients received either treatment, and were assessed at multiple time points over the first 24 hours. Results revealed that morphine was just as effective as bupivacaine for postoperative pain control for partial meniscectomy and chondroplasty of the knee.
