No decreased infection rate when using antibiotic-impregnated cement in primary total joint arthroplasty
Orthopedics. 2014 Dec;37(12):839-456 studies (4 randomized controlled trials and 2 retrospective cohort studies), were included in this meta-analysis examining the efficacy of antibiotic-impregnated bone cement in reducing the risk of infection in total joint arthroplasty. Meta-analysis of infection rate demonstrated no significant difference between cohorts treated and not treated with antibiotic-laden bone cement.
