Anterior Quadratus Lumborum Block Does Not Provide Superior Pain Control after Hip Arthroscopy: A Double-blinded Randomized Controlled Trial.
Anesthesiology. 2021 Sep 1;135(3): 433-441.Ninety six patients undergoing hip arthroscopy were randomized to receive a perioperative anterior quadratus lumborum block (n=48) or no block (n=48). Outcomes of interest included postoperative pain scores, patient satisfaction, opioid consumption, quadriceps strength and adverse events. No significant differences in postoperative pain scores or opioid consumption were found at any time point. There was no difference in patient satisfaction, quadriceps strength or adverse events were found between groups.
