Anterior capsulectomy versus repair in direct anterior total hip arthroplasty.
Eur J Orthop Surg Traumatol . 2023 Dec;33(8):3649-3654.82 patients undergoing direct anterior total hip arthroplasty for hip osteoarthritis were randomized to receive either anterior capsulectomy (n=38) or anterior capsule repair (n=44). Outcomes of interest included range of motion in hip flexion, anterior superior iliac spine angle (ASIS), femur to L4 angle, pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Hip disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS) activities of daily living, sport, pain, and symptoms, and the incidence of dislocation. Outcomes were assessed at 4 months and 1 year. All outcomes were similar between the two groups at all time points.
