Retrograde versus antegrade intramedullary nailing for femoral fractures: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Curr Med Res Opin. 2015 Oct;31(10):1897-902.3 randomized controlled trials comparing the antegrade and the retrograde techniques in intramedullary nailin of femoral shaft fractures were included in this meta-analysis. The purpose was to compare results regarding union rates and incidence of knee pain between the two techniques. Results indicated that rate of union, knee pain, and heterotopic ossification were comparable between both groups, with no significant differences observed in any pooled outcome.
