A prospective randomised study of anatomical single-bundle versus double-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: quantitative evaluation using an electromagnetic measurement system
Int Orthop. 2011 Mar;35(3):439-46. doi: 10.1007/s00264-010-1110-9. Epub 2010 Aug 2420 patients were randomized to compare the postoperative outcome of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using either an anatomical single-bundle or double-bundle technique. After allocation to either one of the two procedures, patients were assessed after 1 year. Results revealed that the clinical outcomes were similar with both procedures; however, data from the electromagnetic device - a knee kinematic measurement system - indicated that the double-bundle technique was biomechanically superior to the single-bundle method.
