Is resurfacing the patella cheaper? An economic analysis of evidence based medicine on patellar resurfacing
Knee. 2015 Mar;22(2):136-41.6 RCTS were included in this economic analysis to evaluate the resurfacing of patellas during primary total knee arthroplasty. The incidence of revision surgery and complications were among the outcomes assessed. Results indicated that, when evaluated from a MediCare perspective over a period of 5 years, primary total knee arthroplasty with patellar resurfacing costs less and was a more cost-effective option than total knee arthroplasty without resurfacing.
