An accelerated Ponseti versus the standard Ponseti method: A prospective randomised controlled trial

40 patients (61 feet) diagnosed with idiopathic congenital talipes equinovarus (CTEV) were randomized to receive the standard Ponseti treatment or an accelerated version of the Ponseti treatment. The results of this study indicate that both treatment methods produced similar outcomes in terms of the correction of CTEV. The accelerated treatment achieved correction 6 weeks earlier than the standard treatment method, which may provide significant benefits for patients and guardians. Following a 6 month follow-up both treatment methods had no reoccurrences of CTEV.
