A meta-analysis of Allgöwer-Donati versus interrupted vertical mattress suturing in preventing postoperative incisional complications of calcaneal fracture surgery: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

8 studies including 640 patients with closed calcaneal fractures were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing the Allgöwer-Donati technique with interrupted vertical mattress suturing following open reduction and internal fixation. Pooled outcomes included surgical suture time, wound suture time, drainage tube removal time, and postoperative wound complications. The Allgöwer-Donati technique significantly improved all procedural efficiency outcomes, while postoperative complication rates were not significantly different between techniques. Overall, the findings suggest that Allgöwer-Donati suturing may provide faster wound closure and postoperative recovery without increasing wound-related complications.
