Intra-articular Sufentanil in Multimodal Analgesic Management After Outpatient Arthroscopic Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Prospective, Randomized, Double-Blinded Study

Epub 2008 May 19120 patients scheduled to undergo arthroscopic ACL reconstruction were enrolled in this study and randomized to either receive an injection of 5 µg sufentanil, 1µg/kg clonidine, and 20mL ropivacaine, 0.5%, or an injection of 1 µg/kg clonidine and 20 mL ropivacaine, 0.5% without sufentanil. The results indicated that the addition of sufentanial to the injection solution did not result in improved pain control.
