A comparison study on the efficacy of SpinoMed® and soft lumbar orthosis for osteoporotic vertebral fracture

51 patients with osteoporotic vertebral fractures (OVFs) were randomized to receive either traditional soft lumbar orthosis or SpinoMed orthosis (for 3 hours/day during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of treatment post injury) in combination with traditional soft lumbar orthosis. The purpose of the study was to assess if the use of a SpinoMed orthosis led to any significant changes in patient pain or functional mobility after the third week of treatment. Results demonstrated significant improvement within both groups for outcome measures, but no significant differences between groups. No additional benefit to using the SpinoMed device was noted.
