Endocr Metab Immune Disord Drug Targets. 2022;22(1): 108-115.Sixty patients with chronic low back pain from osteoarthritis were randomized to receive 3 weeks of McKenzie method rehabilitation plus 20 days of oral viscosupplementation (n=30) or 3 weeks of rehabilitation only (n=30). Outcomes of interest included pain, lumbar function, and quality of life, measured after the end of treatment and 6 weeks after end the end of treatment. Results revealed that the addition of oral viscosupplementation to McKenzie method rehabilitation resulted in significantly more effective pain relief, lumbar improvement, and quality of life improvement.
