Adding Manipulation to Distention Arthrography for Adhesive Capsulitis .
The Efficacy of Manipulation with Distension Arthrography to Treat Adhesive Capsulitis: A Multicenter, Randomized, Single-Blind, Controlled Trial
Biomed Res Int. 2022 Feb 13;2022: 1562358.One hundred and eighty patients over 40 with adhesive capsulitis were randomized to receive arthrographic distension with manipulation therapy (n=90) or arthrographic distension only (n=90). Outcomes of interest included the shoulder-specific disability measure (SPADI), pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), range of motion, and Constant-Murley scores. Results demonstrated significantly favourable pain scores and SPADI scores up to 24 weeks follow-up in the manipulation group. Moreover, range of motion in abduction, flexion, and elevation, and Constant Murley scores were significantly in favour of the manipulation group at 2 weeks follow-up.
