High Impact
This study has been identified as potentially high impact. OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself. Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone. This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.

Single Versus Double-Incision Technique for the Repair of Acute Distal Biceps Tendon Ruptures

J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2012 Jul 3;94(13):1166-74
Exclusive Author Interview

Dr. Ruby Grewal discuss her findings comparing single versus double-incision repair of acute distal biceps tendon ruptures.

91 male patients with acute distal biceps tendon ruptures were randomized to undergo surgical treatment either with a single or double-incision technique. The primary outcome was pain and function based on the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) elbow score. Results indicated that the two techniques resulted in comparable improvements of the ASES. However, there was a 10% advantage in flexion strength with the double-incision method.
