German Acupuncture Trials (GERAC) for Chronic Low Back Pain: Randomized, Multicenter, Blinded, Parallel-Group Trial With 3 Groups
Arch Intern Med. 2007 Sep 24;167(17):1892-81162 patients with chronic low back pain were randomized to either receive verum acupuncture, sham acupuncture or conventional therapy. The results at 6 months indicate that acupuncture (both verum and sham techniques) are more effective in improving pain intensity and functional disability than guideline-based conventional therapy. There were no significant differences between the verum and sham acupuncture techniques.
