The Efficacy of Acromioplasty in the Arthroscopic Repair of Small- to Medium-Sized Rotator Cuff Tears Without Acromial Spur: Prospective Comparative Study
Arthroscopy. 2012 May;28(5):628-35. Epub 2012 Jan 20120 patients with small to medium sized rotator cuff tears were randomized to receive arthroscopic rotator cuff repair with acromioplasty or without acromioplasty. Results from 35 month follow-up indicated that both groups displayed significantly improved clinical outcomes; however, there were no differences between the two groups in regards to pain, range of motion, and function. Lastly, there were no significant differences in re-tear rate between the two groups.
