ACL reconstruction: Similar outcomes with free tendon and bone-tendon Achilles allograft .
Single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in active young men using bone-tendon achilles allograft versus free tendon achilles allograft
Arthroscopy. 2013 Mar;29(3):507-13. doi: 10.1016/j.arthro.2012.10.023. Epub 2013 Jan 2872 patients with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture requiring reconstruction were randomized to receive either a free tendon or bone-tendon Achilles allograft in order to study their comparative efficacy. Patients were clinically evaluated at a minimum of 2 years postoperatively. The results at final follow-up revealed that there were no significant differences between groups for any of the outcome measurements (Lachman and pivot-shift tests, IKDC classification, side-to-side difference, Lysholm and Tegner scales).
