A comparison of the results of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using bioabsorbable versus metal interference screws: a meta-analysis
J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2011 Mar 16;93(6):572-80. doi: 10.2106/JBJS.J.002698 randomized controlled trials (mean follow-up=12 months) including 745 patients who underwent ACL reconstruction were identified for inclusion in this meta-analysis to assess differences in patients undergoing graft fixation with metal or bioabsorbable interference screws. Clinical outcomes (assessed using the International Knee Documentation Committee, Lysholm and Tegner activity scores), complications, and laxity were the outcomes analyzed in this meta-analysis. Results demonstrated no difference in any outcome measure using a mean follow-up of 12 months.
