ACL Reconstruction: Neither Calaxo or Milagro bioabsorbable screws increase bone formation .

Randomized controlled trial of osteoconductive fixation screws for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: a comparison of the Calaxo and Milagro screws
Arthroscopy. 2013 Jan;29(1):74-8260 patients were randomized to determine the effect of osteoconductive bioabsorbable screw type for interference fixation in ACL reconstruction. Patients received either Calaxo or Milagro bioabsorbable screws, and were followed for 2 years postoperatively. The results revealed that the Calaxo screw achieved faster resorption (6 months) compared to ongoing resorption of the Milagro screw at 24 months. The Calaxo screw presented with higher incidence of cyst formation. Furthermore, neither screw type resulted in significant tunnel ossification.
