J Robot Surg. 2026 01-Feb;():. 10.1007/s11701-026-03214-xStudy Summary
9 retrospective comparative studies including 608 patients with thoracolumbar fractures were included in this meta-analysis comparing TiRobot-assisted pedicle screw fixation vs conventional pedicle screw fixation. Pooled outcomes of interest included pedicle screw placement accuracy, operative time, blood loss, fluoroscopy exposure time, radiation dose, visual analogue scale (VAS) pain scores, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), Cobb angle correction, length of hospital stay, and complication rates. TiRobot-assisted fixation significantly improved Grade A and Grade A+B screw placement accuracy, reduced blood loss, shortened hospital stay, improved early pain relief, enhanced long-term functional recovery, and lowered complication rates. However, robotic-assisted procedures were associated with longer operative times and higher radiation exposure. These findings suggest that TiRobot-assisted fixation provides superior surgical precision and clinical outcomes for thoracolumbar fractures while maintaining an acceptable safety profile.
