Double-Row Repair Lowers the Retear Risk After Accelerated Rehabilitation

58 patients with rotator cuff tear and deemed high-risk for postoperative stiffness following arthroscopic repair were randomized to double-row or single-row repair. All patients were managed postoperatively with an accelerated rehabilitation protocol. Patients were followed for 2 years postoperatively, and assessed using the modified University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) shoulder function score, shoulder range of motion, and retear rate. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups in UCLA score or range of motion, with no cases of shoulder stiffness noted at 2 years. Retear rate was significantly lower in the DR group compared to the SR group, though a Fragility Index score of 0 has suggested possibly limited power for this outcome based on the current sample size.
