2019 AAOS Annual Meeting: Single Surgeon Head-to-Head Comparison of Liposomal Bupivacaine vs. a Cocktail of Peri-Articular Injection Medications used in Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty

189 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were randomized to periarticular injection performed with either liposomal bupivacaine and marcaine, or marcaine, epinephrine, morphine, and toradol. Patients were assessed for narcotic consumption postoperatively. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups in consumption of either oxycodone or tramadol. In addition, there was no significant difference observed between groups in length of hospital stay.
