2018 AAOS Annual Meeting: No Difference in Blood Loss, Transfusion in Navigated and Non-Navigated Bilateral Knee Arthroplasty: A Prospective Randomized Study

154 patients scheduled for sequential bilateral total knee arthroplasty were randomized to undergo surgery with or without the use of navigation. Patients were assessed perioperatively for outcomes related to blood loss, and postoperatively up to 12 months for patient-reported function and pain. Groups demonstrated no significant differences in either total blood loss, drop in hemoglobin, or transfusion rates. Groups also demonstrated no significant differences in measures of patient-reported function and pain.
