2017 AAOS Annual Meeting: Hemiarthroplasty or Total Hip Arthroplasty for Femoral Neck Fractures: 12-year Follow Up of Randomized Trial

OE Journal. 2017;5(7):32252 elderly patients with a femoral neck fracture were randomized to treatment with either hemiarthroplasty or total hip arthroplasty. Patients were followed for 12 years postoperatively. Only 50 patients originally randomized were alive at 12-year follow-up. The results indicate that there were no significant differences between groups in modified Harris Hip Score, the incidence of general complications, or the incidence of revision.
