Long-term Outcomes of Total Elbow Arthroplasty for Distal Humeral Fracture: Results from a Prior Randomized Clinical Trial
42 elderly patients with a comminuted, intraarticular fracture of the distal humerus were randomized to either total elbow arthroplasty or open reduction and internal fixation. Reported results included survivorship and incidence of revision. Intraoperatively, five cases of ORIF were converted to TEA. Revision was documented in only one patient who underwent TEA, while revision or reoperation was documented in four patients who underwent ORIF.
