2017 AAOS Annual Meeting: Adductor Canal vs. Femoral Nerve Block in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Randomized Controlled Trial

77 patients scheduled for ACL reconstruction were randomized to postoperative analgesia with either an adductor canal block or a femoral nerve block. The purpose of this study was to compare analgesic efficacy and functional recovery between groups. Patients administered the adductor canal block demonstrated similar pain scores and analgesic consumption to those administered the femoral nerve block. In addition, patients administered the adductor canal block demonstrated earlier time to complete the straight leg raise and greater satisfaction with early pain control when compared to those administered the femoral nerve block.
