A Meta-Analysis of Joint Preservation versus Arthroplasty for Displaced Proximal Humerus Fractures

In this meta-analysis 4 randomized controlled trials and 8 cohort studies (total of 610 patients) examining the joint preservation and arthroplasty methods for displaced proximal humerus fractures were evaluated to determine which type of treatment was more effective. Following comparisons of outcomes from treatment methods, results indicated that joint preservation provided a significantly larger improvement in mean Constant scores than arthroplasty.
