2014 AAOS Annual Meeting: Two-year Follow Up of Randomized Controlled Trial of Arthroscopic Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation in the Knee

OE Journal. 2014;2(6):5350 patients with articular cartilage lesions were randomized to treatment with either mircrofracture surgery or all-arthroscopic matrix encapsulated autologous chondrocyte implantation (MECI). The purpose was to compare the clinical and morphological outcomes between techniques following repair. Results up to 2 years postoperative revealed better T-2 mapping evaluations for repaired tissues and second-look arthroscopy scores in the MECI group. All clinical outcomes, however, were similar between groups.
