2025 AAOS Annual Meeting: Collared vs Collarless Hydroxyapatite-Coated Stems in Uncemented Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty – A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

OE Journal. 2025;13(6):6Twelve studies involving 102,629 patients undergoing uncemented primary total hip arthroplasty were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing collared versus collarless hydroxyapatite-coated femoral stems. Pooled outcomes of interest included postoperative periprosthetic femur fracture (PPF) rates at 90 days and up to 10 years. Collared stems showed significantly lower PPF rates at both short-term and long-term follow-up. These findings suggest that collared stems may better mitigate postoperative PPF risk in uncemented THA.
