One-stage versus two-stage treatment for prosthetic joint infection: a prospective, randomized clinical trial
321 patients with chronically infected hip and knee arthroplasties were randomized to receive either a one-stage (n=164) or two-stage treatment (n=157). Outcomes of interest included a one-year success rate, relative risk of failure, and adverse events. Interim results indicated that adverse events, one-year success rate, and relative risk were similar between the two groups.
