Periacetabular Osteotomy with or without Arthroscopy: Early Results of a Randomized Controlled Trial
163 patients with hip dysplasia/hip instability were randomized to receive a peri-acetabular osteotomy plus hip arthroscopy (n=84) or peri-acetabular osteotomy alone (n=79). The outcomes of interest included the International Hip Outcome Tool (iHOT-33) and Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) outcome measures, assessed at 6 and 12 months post-operation. Both groups reported significant improvements from baseline at both time-points. However, no significant differences in both outcomes were observed between the two groups, suggesting no benefit of hip arthroscopy on patient-reported outcomes.
