2023 AAOS Annual Meeting: Dual-Mobility versus Large Femoral Head in Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty: Interim Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial

OE Journal. 2023;11(5):4In this interim analysis, 146 patients undergoing revision total hip arthroplasty were randomized to receive a dual mobility bearing (n=76) or a conventional large femoral head bearing (n=70). The primary outcome of interest was dislocation rate. Secondary outcomes of interest included revision rate and 90-day readmission rate. Mean follow-up was 18.2 months. No differences in dislocation rate, revision rate or 90-day readmission rate were observed between the two groups. Full enrollment and follow-up is necessary given the lower than expected dislocation rate.
