2022 AAOS Annual Meeting: Intramedullary Nailing vs. Sliding Hip Screw Intertrochanteric Evaluation: The INSITE Trial

OE Journal. 2022;10(9):16850 ambulatory patients with low-energy intertrochanteric hip fractures were randomized to receive internal fixation using an intramedullary nail (n=423) or sliding hip screws (n=427). The primary outcome of interest was quality of life on the EuroQol-5D (EQ5D) at 1 year post-operation. Secondary outcomes of interest included revision and fracture healing rates (at 13 weeks), adverse events, Parker mobility scores, and Harris Hip scores, measured at 1 year post-operation. Results revealed no significant differences in all outcomes between the two groups.
