2016 AAOS Annual Meeting: Can Ultrasound-guided Nerve Blocks be a Useful Methods of Anaesthesia for Arthroscopic Knee Surgery?

OE Journal. 2016;4(6):51400 patients scheduled for knee arthroscopy were randomized to an ultrasound-guided nerve block, spinal anaesthesia, or general anaesthesia. The purpose of this study was to compare pain scores and patient satisfaction postoperatively. The results of this study indicated significant differences between groups in VAS scores postoperatively, with the lowest scores demonstrated by the group which received the ultrasound-guided nerve block. Patient satisfaction was also highest in the nerve block group.
