Oral and Intravenous Tranexamic Acid are Equivalent at Reducing Blood Loss Following Total Hip Arthroplasty
83 patients scheduled to undergo total hip arthroplasty were randomized to oral or intravenous tranexamic acid. The purpose of this study was to compare hemoglobin drop and total blood loss between groups to determine if these to methods of administration were equivalent. Results demonstrated equivalent hemoglobin drop and volume of total blood loss between the two groups. Transfusion was needed in 3 patients who received oral TXA and 1 patient who received intravenous TXA.
