Bilateral Total Hip Arthroplasty: One-Stage versus Two-Stage Procedure
180 patients with bilateral hip osteoarthritis were randomized to undergo bilateral total hip arthroplasty with either a one-stage or two-stage procedure. The purpose of this study was to compare the safety and efficacy of these procedures. No significant differences were noted between groups in terms of functional scores, complications, hemoglobin levels, or blood transfusion requirements, however, the one-stage procedure was associated with a significantly reduced length of hospital stay than the two-stage procedure.
