Does the Use of a Hinged Knee Brace Influence Recovery After a MCL Injury: A Randomized Controlled Trial
82 patients with medial collateral ligament (MCL) injuries were randomized to management using a hinged brace mobilization or unprotected mobilization. The objective of this trial was to evaluate the effect of hinged bracing on functional outcomes and time to return to work, running and full sport. The results of this trial demonstrated no significant differences in the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) and Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) between groups. There were also no differences in the time to return to work, running or full sport between groups.
