2016 AAOS Annual Meeting: High-Intensity versus Low-Intensity Rehabilitation after Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Randomized Controlled Trial
OrthoEvidence Journal (OE Journal) - ACE Report
OE Journal. 2016;4(5):35162 patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty were randomized to undergo either a high-intensity or low-intensity resistance, progressive rehabilitation program postoperatively. The study was conducted in order to determine if previous suggestions that higher intensity training was able to yield sustained functional benefits in comparison to low-intensity training. Although the findings of this report found no difference between groups in terms of clinical outcomes, the extent of benefit that was seen with high-intensity training was found to be associated with postoperative levels of quadriceps activation.
