A Randomized Controlled Trial with 16-Year Follow Up After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
192 patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction randomized to the procedure using either a hamstring or patellar tendon autograft. The study was conducted to compare long-term outcomes between the two graft options. Although the pivot-shift test, knee walking difficulty, and sensitivity outcomes favoured the hamstring tendon group at final follow-up, manual Lachman and instrumented KT-1000 knee laxity measures, subjective clinical outcomes, and the incidence of osteoarthritis development did not significantly differ between groups.
