Botox to Treat Flexion Contracture After Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Double-Blinded RCT
15 routine patients who developed flexion contracture following total knee arthroplasty were included in this study. Patients were randomized to receive injections of either Botulinum toxin A (Botox) or saline in order to determine the efficacy of Botox in treating flexion contractures in this setting. The study found that the Botox group reported significantly greater improvements in extension capacity in comparison to the placebo group.
