2016 AAOS Annual Meeting: Effect of Suprascapular Nerve Block Combined with Interscalene Brachial Plexus Block in Arthroscopic Cuff Repair

OE Journal. 2016;4(5):4348 patients scheduled for arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were randomized to postoperative analgesia with either combined interscalene brachial plexus nerve block (ISB) and suprascapular nerve block (SSNB), or ISB alone. The purpose of this study was to determine if there were any significant differences between groups in postoperative pain and patient satisfaction after 48 hours. Findings indicated a lower VAS pain score, higher patient satisfaction, later rebound pain, and smaller magnitude of rebound pain in patients who received SSNB in addition to ISB.
