2015 AAOS Annual Meeting: Comparison between 28mm and 32mm ceramic-on-ceramic in total hip arthroplasty

OE Journal. 2015;3(6):16109 patients (120 hips) scheduled for ceramic-on-ceramic total hip arthroplasty were randomized to either a 32mm or 28mm femoral head diameter. The purpose of this study was to compare ceramic line fracture rates and dislocation rates between groups. Patients were followed for a minimum of 5 years postoperatively. After 5 years, ceramic liner fracture was not observed in any patient of either group, and one dislocation occurred in a patient allocated to a 32mm femoral head with no case of dislocation found in the 28mm group.
