2015 AAOS Annual Meeting: There is No Difference between Bracing and No Bracing after Internal Fixation of Tibial Plateau Fractures

OE Journal. 2015;3(7):4449 patients who underwent open reduction internal fixation for tibial plateau fractures were randomized to receive bracing for 6 weeks or no bracing following the procedure. The purpose of this study was to compare functional, subjective, and radiographic outcomes of brace use to no bracing after ORIF of tibial plateau fractures. Results indicated no significant difference between groups in any of the outcomes measured, which were range of motion, SF-36 mental and physical scores, time to union, incidence of wound complication, and joint collapse or misalignment.
