Comparison of Percutaneous Release, Open Release, and Corticosteroid Injection in the Treatment of Trigger Digits: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
26 studies were included in this meta-analysis to determine the optimal treatment for stenosing flexor tenosynovitis (trigger finger) by comparing percutaneous release (11 studies), open surgery (8 studies) and corticoid steroid injections (7 studies). The chance of success with percutaneous was 94%, compared to 92% in open release group and only 65% for steroid administration group. Open surgery and percutaneous release were comparable treatment methods but both were found to be superior to steroid injections.
