2023 AAHKS Annual Meeting: What Is the Value of a Hip Specific MRI In the Management of Patients With Symptomatic Hip Dysplasia

Patients with hip dysplasia were randomized to receive either periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) alone or PAO with adjunct hip arthroscopy. This study was a subgroup analysis of 74 patients who underwent PAO with adjunct hip arthroscopy. Outcomes of interest included radiographic and hip-specific magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to identify labral/cartilage pathology and also evaluate clinical outcomes using the International Hip Outcome Tool-33 (iHOT-33). The results showed that the use of an MRI was not a good predictor of clinical and pathological outcomes as there were no differences between the patients who presented with and without a labral tear.
