A RCT of a Conventional versus Modular Dual-Mobility Bearing – Are Serum metal Levels a Concern?
53 adult patients undergoing primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) for hip osteoarthritis were randomized to receive either a modular dual-mobility bearing (n=28) or a conventional polyethylene bearing (n=25). Serum metal levels, such as Cobalt and Chromium, were assessed preoperatively and postoperatively every year for at least two years. Both serum Cobalt and Chromium levels were similar after 2 years of follow-up between the two groups.
