A randomised, controlled trial of circumpatellar electrocautery in total knee replacement without patellar resurfacing
Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery BR; 2011; 93(B); 1054-1059300 patients requiring total knee replacement (TKR) for primary osteoarthritis (OA) were randomized to receive pain treatment with either a circumpatellar electrocautery or no electrocautery. The 1-year results indicate that patients who received intervention displayed significantly better pain scores and improved function scores.The mean incidence of pain was found to be greater in the non-intervention group.
