A Glove-Based Virtual Hand Rehabilitation System for Patients With Post-Traumatic Hand Injuries.

Thirty patients with post-traumatic hand injuries were randomized to receive either a glove-based virtual rehabilitation system (RehabRelive Glove) (n=15) or conventional physiotherapy (n=15). The primary outcome of interest was the improvement in wrist and finger joints’ range of motion (ROM). Secondary outcomes included grip strength and patient compliance. Outcomes were assessed at baseline and every seven sessions over three weeks. Overall, the results revealed that the virtual rehabilitation group experienced a 1.5 times greater improvement in wrist ROM compared to the conventional physiotherapy group. However, both groups showed comparable improvements in finger ROM and grip strength. These findings suggest that the glove-based virtual rehabilitation system can enhance recovery speed for wrist mobility in post-traumatic hand injury patients.
