Overall, the navicular drop height and the longitudinal arch angle improved from baseline to 6 weeks substantially in the comprehensive exercise program. The results were limited by a small sample size. Additionally, only patients with unilateral flexible flat foot were assessed. Future trials should consider increasing their sample size and including patients with bilateral flexible flat foot.
Study Summary
Fifty-two patients with unilateral flexible flat foot were randomized to receive either a comprehensive exercise program (n=26) or a standard exercise program (n=26). Outcomes of interest were navicular drop height and longitudinal arch angle after 6 weeks. Patients in the comprehensive exercise group presented with better navicular drop height and medial longitudinal arch angle after 6 weeks compared to the standard exercise program.
