A comparison of 2,3-dihydro-lysergic acid diethylamide with LSD-25
OrthoEvidence Journal (OE Journal) - ACE Report
OE Journal. 2022;10(12):9 Psychopharmacologia. 1964 23-Feb;():. 10.1007/BF00404013What this means for my practice?
The autonomic and mental effects induced by 2,3-DH-LSD were similar to those of LSD-25 but were less potent. This suggests that the low potency of 2,3-DH-LSD inducing fever in rabbits correlates with a relatively low potency in inducing autonomic and psychotomimetic effects in man. The results are limited by the small sample size and the use of all males. Given the study was completed in the 1960s, changes in research methodology must also be taken into consideration.
Study Summary
Six former morphine addicts who were otherwise physically healthy underwent a single-blind, placebo-controlled trial to test whether the low pyretogenic activity of 2,3-DH-LSD, compared with LSD-25 in rabbits would be associated with low psychotomimetic, pyretogenic and sympathomimetic activity in man. 2,3-DH-LSD induced LSD-like mental changes along with autonomic changes such as fever and decreased the threshold for the knee-jerk. The autonomic and mental effects of 2,3-DH-LSD appeared more slowly and reached maximal intensity later than LSD-25.
